Description
A plain square body beneath a broad projecting collar
The square collar marble vase proposal uses one pronounced geometric detail above a quieter upright body. A broad square collar projects beyond the sides, giving the upper outline a clear change in width. White marble is the proposed material for a custom commission, with the final size, stone and finish agreed through quotation. The initial use is dry-stem display and shelf styling; usable internal dimensions and water-holding performance are not established by the generated image.
Choose a face-on or corner view
The square body and collar can look different when a flat face is directed toward the room or a corner is brought forward. Consider the normal approach to the display and show the preferred orientation in your brief. Ask for front, side and plan views so the projection can be judged around the whole form. A room photograph with nearby furniture can help communicate why you prefer a particular view without treating the illustrated setting as part of the supplied piece.
Allow space around the widest projection
The suggested outside dimensions are approximately 14 × 14 × 25 cm. They are indicative measurements for planning a custom piece rather than a specification taken from ready stock. Ask the maker to identify the complete collar width, body dimensions, lower contact area and overall height separately. Check the widest outline against the intended shelf or console, including neighbouring objects. The body alone does not describe the space needed by the projecting collar, and the illustration does not establish finished weight or stability.
Review the underside of the square collar
The junction beneath the overhang is a useful detail to settle before approving the design. Request a close section or drawing showing the projection, intended edge character and transition into the upright body. The maker should confirm what is appropriate for the selected marble and final measurements. A softer edge and a more pronounced profile should be recorded as specific design choices. Generated shadows suggest the visual form but do not define carving depth, exact thickness or a construction method.
Fit the dry stems to the usable opening
Measure the stems or light decorative branches you want to display and show their proposed spread and height above the mouth. Ask for the actual opening, internal depth and relevant stone thicknesses to be specified independently of the outside collar. A broad square rim does not necessarily mean a broad usable cavity. Confirm the fit rather than forcing a bundle against the stone. If you request another size, review the mouth, collar and body together on the revised drawing.
Check the full vase-and-stem composition against any shelf above it and the normal viewing position. An open arrangement can leave the collar more visible, while a dense group may make the stems the stronger feature. Include the actual dimensions of other accessories if this vase will form part of a group. Ask the maker about the finished contact area and suitable removable furniture protection for the display surface you intend to use.
Consider natural veining on the square planes
Representative white-marble references can help you compare quieter material with a more visibly marked selection. Look at them beside the room finishes and intended dry stems, considering how veins might appear across the body and projecting collar. Discuss the surface finish and acceptable variation with the maker. The generated white surface does not identify the exact block or promise an identical shade, polished result or continuous grain through any separately made components of the commissioned piece.
Agree a separate vessel before fresh-flower use
Watertightness has not been confirmed for this proposed design. Use dry arrangements unless the maker supplies and approves a suitable inner vessel for flowers that require water. The actual mouth and internal space need a fit and access review, even if the outside collar appears generous. Do not pour water directly into the marble on the basis of a rendering. Keep the base and supporting furniture dry, following the specific protection and maintenance instructions supplied for the finished piece.
Request the collar and body as one measured proposal
Send the preferred orientation, display measurements, stem plan and collar detail through a square-collar vase quotation enquiry. Confirm the selected stone, final outside and usable dimensions, finish, expressly included components, price, production timing and delivery arrangements. Images are AI-generated design illustrations rather than photographs of stocked or tested vases. Obtain handling advice and avoid using the collar as a lifting grip. General material guidance is available in the Natural Stone Institute care guide, alongside the maker’s instructions.
Compare square and circular shoulder details
The ring-shoulder marble vase places a circular projection around a narrow body. The stepped-neck bottle vase repeats three rings near its opening. Compare those measured outlines with the single square collar to choose the detail for your dry-stem arrangement.
